This is for Southern Hemisphere. (Add 6 months to yours to achieve equivalent in Northern Hemisphere)
Spring is just around the corner, which means that, in all but the very coldest parts, the garden is starting to stir.
Vegies to sow in August:
Sow leafy greens in punnet or pots. The greens in the new Asian stir Fry Mix in Yates seed rangs are fast growing and versatile and can be used fresh or cooked.
Flowers to sow in August.
Summer flower favourites such as petunias can also be sown into indoor pots ready for planting out when it's warmer.
Petunias have very small seeds that don't like being buried.
Feed in August.
Cut off dead flowers from spring bulbs but leave the foliage intact, feed weekly with Thrive Flower & amp
Fruit:
Prune in August.
Finish rose pruning and follow with a clean-up spray of Lime Sulfur. Any necessary pruning of camellias can be done as soon as flowering finishes.
August Job file:
If the weather is favourable. August is a good month to improve the soil by digging in compost and manure
Don't dig while the soil is very wet.

It has been so hot here this summer that it seems like fall will never come. You are thinking about spring and I am thinking about cooler weather and some much needed rain.
Hugs,
Beth
I always look forward to your flower gardens. While you're having Spring,we'll be having cooler weather.I'm so looking forward to the cooler weather, it's been so hot.
Dearest Michiko-san
暑~い日本からは、8月に春を迎える準備をされる事が想像できない位です(^^;)
無理のないように、外での作業を頑張って下さいね。 こちらは、日中とても長い時間は外にいれません、ハハ。
Sending you lots of love and hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*
Dear Michiko
It's so wonderful to have the hope of Spring to look forward to, on these cold wintry days!
Thank you for the great planing advice, in New Zealand our ground is still too cold to plant - in another month may be.
How are things with you now?
Hugs

I truly can't imagine spring in August! That's a different world. I've been to places where it seems to be summer all year long...that's a world apart from us here too. It's going to be a blazing hot week for us it looks like. Fires have actually cleared some towns...I won't miss that.
Yes, soon you have the start to a happy time and season, Sis. We will, of course be starting cooler weather in 2 more months and on into our Winter.
It has been a terribly hot Spring and Summer in this Country. Remember all the fires in Australia back when we had our MSN Live Spaces blogs? Well this Country here has many fires too..lack of rain.

Dearest Michiko san,
What a lovely post; full of new life and planning for your spring planting. Enjoy this season of new growth.
Hugs and love to you; ALWAYS!

Hi Michiko san. Sounds like you have lots of things waiting for you to do in your garden :-) I enjoy seeing your beautiful flowers and looking forward to the pictures!
Here you are just starting to garden and mine is in full growth. My flowers now are in full bloom. I have a of petunias this year as they take the heat well and frost in the fall. However we have had some winds and most heavy rains sometimes that are hard on the flowers. I just deadhead my flowers then we get such a down pour of rain I have to do it all over again. My garden loves all the rain even though I have watering on a timer for every day. We are in a hot spell now, but did get a heavy thunder shower yesterday, watering all the areas I don't get to. I am glad to hear you are practicing swinging your golf club again. Won't be long now and you will be busy golfing again. Enjoy you spring. May your surroundings and you continue to grow with renewed energy. Hugs Carrie
