"The price of speaking out"

There are insane moral judgments that now make me cringe. In domestic matters,at least,I am learning to keep my counsel.

I admire those who can do that. Not the ones at the far end of the spectrum who slap on smiles and always say the right thing, drab in their complacency, but those who adopt the art of thinking before speaking, weighing up the consequences before diving in. "The volue of the pause".Buddhists call it.Silence is for cowards, others say. but is it?

The flowers has nice to me! A raining to much ...

I have learnt the hard way that there areconsequences to being candid.Although there is never malice on my part, I have copped it for speaking my mind.
One who speaks her mind.It might be risky- not everyone will love you- but it's the only way to generate a meoningful connection.Something not on offer if it 's all smiles and watching your wards.

To speak from the heart with empathy and compassion is a contribution, however small,to a more meaningful life. You don't leave much of a legacy by keeping Mum.

Dearest Michiko,
The Buddhist's philosophy of the VALUE of the pause; at least think before speaking out instead of blurting out 'something'... Speaking out can at times mean a lot for those that receive the words that come from your heart. Not just acted in order to please someone and just for wanting to be liked and popular. Sure it does take GUTS and you might get hurt once in a while but still it is worth it and sure only that way we leave a legacy.
Hugs to you dear friend!

Speaking from the heart is not always easy thing. I think it's a great thing to have the right persons who you trust and feel comfortable to speak with open heart.

It does hurts! And the end of a friendship also the end to family member. But sometimes think before you speak is not easy when the mind and heart aren't friend with the mouth! Good day Michiko!

I love what all have said here Sis. I have learned late in life to be a bit more careful with what I say and to whom I say it.

Candor is not appreciated most times and too, *I* have to remember I am not the Queen who knows all. Nor do I always know what is correct. So, I do keep my council many times...but not all of the time. If safety is at stake, then I speak.

xxooxx Sis, Miyuki , Katie and Victoria

Sometimes you are damned if you do and damned if you don't speak your mind Michiko, I certainly have been damned many times for speaking mine, but Scottish people do incline towards saying what you think, but as I've got older I try to consider the consequences of speaking out, but biting your tongue is hard, but I will not keep quiet when I see injustice or cruelty. thought-provoking post my dear.
